Practical Thinking Tools for Strength and Resilience in Rural Life

Learn practical thinking tools that help you think clearly, navigate life’s challenges, and continue the work and life you love—for the long haul.

Every Encounter Should Leave You Stronger

Whether you listen to a podcast, read an article, attend a workshop, or hear Chris speak, every encounter with Rhino Resilience is designed with one goal in mind:

To leave you with something you can remember, apply, and carry into the moments that matter most.

Sometimes that’s a practical thinking tool.

Sometimes it’s a story that helps you see a challenge differently.

Sometimes it’s a new perspective.

Sometimes it’s simply helping you remember who you are.

Whatever you find here, our hope is that it stays with you long after we’re no longer together—strengthening not only your own life, but also your family, your community, and the generations that follow.

Build Your Rural Toolbox

The strongest lessons aren’t always the longest ones.

They’re the ones you can remember when you need them most.

That’s why Rhino Resilience teaches through practical thinking tools—simple ideas, stories, and analogies designed to help you think more clearly, navigate life’s challenges, and continue the work and life you love—for the long haul.

Every tool is designed to be simple enough to remember and practical enough to use when life gets hard.

Over time, you’ll build a collection of practical lessons you can remember, apply in your own life, and pass on to your family, your friends, and your community.

FROM THE RURAL TOOLBOX

The Tractor Rut

When life gets hard, it is easy to fall back into the same reactions—even when those reactions are no longer helping. The Tractor Rut is a simple way of understanding why our minds get stuck and how we can begin creating new paths forward.

Meet Chris "Rhino" Swenson

Bio Pic 300dpi

A rural therapist, educator, speaker, and storyteller who has spent more than two decades helping people navigate the moments when life gets hard.

For more than two decades, Chris has worked alongside people carrying the pressures of work, family, leadership, loss, uncertainty, and everyday rural life. Along the way, he learned that people don’t always need more information. Sometimes they need a practical tool, a memorable story, or a different way of seeing what they’re facing—something they can actually remember when they need it most.

That belief became Rhino Resilience.

Today, Chris brings together years of professional experience, lessons learned from the people he’s served, and a lifelong curiosity about strength, resilience, and how people endure difficult things without losing sight of what matters most.

The goal isn’t to tell people how to live. It’s to leave them better equipped to continue the work and life they love—for the long haul.
